Lyndon is taking action to address flood-prone areas along the Route 5 corridor

LYNDON — After years of talk, Lyndon is taking action to address flood-prone areas along the Route 5 corridor. Waterbury-based engineering firm SLR International held a kick-off event on Monday for a 12-month grant-funded scoping study. More than a dozen local residents, land owners and public officials turned out to give feedback and help guide the study, which will run through December 2024. The scoping study will take a comprehensive look at downtown flood hazards and create a ranked list of fixes, with recommendations and cost estimates. In particular, the scoping study will evaluate two flood mitigation projects by the Route 5/114/122 intersection and determine if the projects are viable, worthwhile and effective.
