A close call on Lake Willoughby ended well after two kayakers capsized
A close call on Lake Willoughby ended well after two kayakers capsized in the middle of the lake on Sunday, September 24. State police and emergency personnel were called to the lake at about 4:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they determined the kayakers were in distress. A private vessel responded, and the kayakers were pulled from the lake by members of the public and first responders. The kayakers, identified as Rania Rubon, 23, and Kevin Rubon, 19, were evaluated as a precaution by EMS, however, no injuries were reported, and all parties involved were accounted for. The Vermont State Police thanks the members of the public involved in this rescue.
