Short-term rentals will continue to require before-the-fact permits
WATERFORD — Short-term rentals will continue to require before-the-fact permits. However, they won’t be subject to strong after-the-fact oversight. The Select Board on Monday tabled consideration of registrations, fees, and fines for STRs. Those measures were meant to enforce compliance with STR permits, which set conditions on such things as noise, trash, parking, and maximum occupancy. Explaining their decision, board members said that registrations, fines and fees could open the town up to a lawsuit, and were unnecessary at this time because Waterford has few STRs.
