Rutland Regional Proposes Moving Pediatric Inpatient Care to Emergency Department
RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – Rutland Regional Medical Center wants to redesign how it cares for kids. The hospital proposes moving the pediatric inpatient care to a dedicated three-bed pediatric area inside the emergency department. The hospital filed a preliminary notice with the state, saying the new pediatric care area would open in late spring or summer 2027. The plan will receive a formal state review and public comment process in which families, pediatricians and advocates can weigh in before a final decision is made.
