Vermont State University to Review 20 Underperforming Academic Programs

LYNDON — Vermont State University plans to review 20 underperforming academic programs to assess their futures. The programs, including three based at the Lyndon campus, were flagged for low enrollment, low graduation rates or concerns about meeting workforce needs. VTSU President Sherry Kollmann told a Vermont State Colleges Board of Trustees subcommittee Oct. 19 that the review would involve faculty, academic leaders and staff from other university departments. The goal is to develop a consistent, data-based approach to deciding which programs to maintain, change, combine or discontinue.
