Whitefield Public Library to Hold Ceremonial Groundbreaking for Expansion

WHITEFIELD — Whitefield Public Library will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking Oct. 7 for its planned multimillion-dollar expansion, nearly two months after construction officially began. The ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the library and will include brief remarks and light refreshments, according to the library’s announcement. The library officially broke ground in August after months of delays related to driveway access and federal approvals. The library has said it needs to raise about $140,000 more to complete the project as planned. The expansion is funded through federal grants and private donations, with no local tax dollars budgeted for construction.
