State Money Moves North
A not guilty plea has been offered in federal court on behalf of a Newport felon facing a charge of being in possession of a Ruger 9-mm and ammunition that he reportedly stole by placing a knife to the throat of a local man earlier this year. Andrew “Deuce” Ladouceur, 40, of Alderbrook Road is being held at the Northwest State Correctional Facility in St. Albans Town on the single felony charge stemming from the robbery about 5:48 a.m. April 17, records show. He waived his appearance at his arraignment Thursday, and Magistrate Judge Kevin Doyle entered the not guilty plea. Assistant Federal Defender Emily Kenyon asked for 30 days to investigate the case and consider filing pre-trial motions. Doyle set a Sept. 21 deadline.
New Hampshire Governor and Council this week approved $1 million for a railway transport hub by the airport in Whitefield as well as an additional $400,000 for the new $20 million New Hampshire Army National Guard field maintenance shop nearing completion in Littleton. Other North Country approvals were $500,000 awards each to the Affordable Housing, Education and Development Inc. (AHEAD) housing project in Lisbon and to the Boys and Girls Club in Lisbon, as well as money for snow-making improvements at Cannon Mountain Ski Area, $4.5 million for a dam in Pittsburg, and a $700,000 loan for upgrades to the Bethlehem Village District water system.
