An unexpected hitchhiker gave grocery store employees a scare in New Hampshire

MANCHESTER, N.H. (WCAX) – An unexpected hitchhiker gave grocery store employees a scare in New Hampshire. An ornate cat-eyed snake was found in a shipment of bananas at a Market Basket store in Manchester, New Hampshire. Fish and Wildlife described it as mildly venomous, but no one was hurt. The 8-inch snake is now rehomed at a Massachusetts sanctuary. Snakes aren’t the only animals common in fruit shipments – frogs, lizards, and spiders are more common finds.
