A local man suffered major injuries as a result of a January 30 snowmobile crash
MORGAN — A local man suffered major injuries as a result of a January 30 snowmobile crash on a section of the VAST trail located in Morgan. The 6:21 p.m. crash occurred near Valley Rd. According to Vermont State Police, the snowmobile was operated by Gerald Dagesse Jr., 46, of Morgan, who was traveling east on VAST Trail 2001 when he crested a knoll and struck a tree stump just off the traveled portion of the groomed trail. Thrown from his 2021 Polaris Axys snowmobile, Dagesse sustained major, but believed to be non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to North Country Hospital and later airlifted to UVM. The snowmobile had minor damage. Additional agencies assisting in this incident were Newport Ambulance and Derby Line Fire Department.
