New Hampshire will keep a state symbol for longer than expected
BURLINGTON, Vt. – New Hampshire will keep a state symbol for longer than expected. The 603 area code covers all of New Hampshire – but they are running into a capacity problem. Governor Chris Sununu announced the ‘Don’t Overload the Code’ executive order to conserve the area code and extend its life. An economic report from the state says adding a new area code could cost businesses almost $500 million a year. Initial projections said a new area code may be needed as soon as 2027, but a recent federal report pushed that deadline back to 2029.
