White Mountains Regional High School will strictly enforce its classroom cell phone policy
WHITEFIELD — White Mountains Regional High School will strictly enforce its classroom cell phone policy this fall. The policy, adopted in 2022, bans students from using cell phones in the classroom. In response to concerns over lax enforcement, the district leadership team this summer revised the policy to ensure rigid, uniform enforcement for all students in grades 9-12 for the 2024-25 school year. The policy requires that cell phones be kept out of sight — either in classroom cell phone holders or in a student’s backpack — during the school day from 7:45 a.m. to 2:25 p.m., with narrow exceptions. It would allow students to use their cell phones in the hallway between classes and in the cafeteria during lunch and would permit students with documented medical or educational plans that require cell phone use to continue doing so. The policy was expanded this year to include smart watches and earbuds.
