Vermont State Police identified the people involved in a domestic violence
Vermont State Police identified the people involved in a domestic violence incident on Cottage Street on Sunday that resulted in two fatalities. Ben Lyons, 21, whose residence at 16 Cottage St. is the location of the incident, died at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on Sunday, several hours after police responded to the property. Lyons was a 2021 graduate of Danville High School. Nicholas Johnson, 42, was found deceased at the residence. Autopsies were done on the men on Monday. The two men died in an altercation early Sunday in St. Johnsbury. Lyons died from a stab wound to the neck, and he was the victim of a homicide. Johnson died from a gunshot wound, also a victim of homicide. The Vermont State Police’s investigation is ongoing. Detectives continue to canvass the area, speak with witnesses and collect evidence. The Crime Scene Search Team has completed processing the scene. Additional investigative work and further interviews are expected in the coming days. VSP is working closely with the Caledonia County State’s Attorney’s Office on this case. The St. Johnsbury Police Department is assisting.
