Its been more than a year since a bridge closed over Connecticut River
LYME, N.H. (WCAX) – It’s been more than a year since a bridge closed over Connecticut River in the Upper Valley – impacting businesses on both sides of the river. The historic span – between Thetford and Lyme has been on New Hampshire’s list of “red-listed” bridges for years. The bridge was finally closed in April of last year for structural and cosmetic repairs. The Cedar Circle Farm in Thetford is just a stones throw from Lyme, but because of the closure, those New Hampshire residents have to travel a solid 15 miles out of their way to get to the farm. The bridge rehab is an $11 million project. Federal funds are paying for the majority of the cost. The bridge is expected to reopen in October.
