The driver of a tractor-trailer loaded with granite blocks was found to be operating too fast
ARDWICK — The driver of a tractor-trailer loaded with granite blocks was found to be operating too fast for conditions in a crash at 5:24 a.m. on April 5. The Department of Motor Vehicles responded to the crash on Route 15 in Hardwick. Upon arrival, the tractor-trailer was found to have left the roadway in an uncontrolled fashion, overturning and coming to its final position of uncontrolled rest on its side down an embankment. The granite blocks it was hauling were being shipped from Canada to Barre, Vt. The driver, Andre Pare, 58, of Waterville, Quebec, was not injured in the crash. He was operating a 2006 Peterbilt tractor towing a 53-foot flatbed trailer. Police stated the cause of the crash was found to be driver error. The DMV was assisted at the scene by the Hardwick Police Department, Hardwick Fire Department, and Laroche Towing.
