Two guests of the Mountain View Grand Resort were confirmed to have Legionnaires Disease

WHITEFIELD — Two guests of the Mountain View Grand Resort were confirmed to have Legionnaire’s Disease on Friday. State epidemiologist Dr. Benjamin Chan told WMUR that both men were from out of state: One from Massachusetts has died and the other from Rhode Island remains hospitalized. The visitors were not at the resort at the same time, were not connected, and were diagnosed months apart in October and December, he told WMUR. Chan said the resort’s water system is being investigated and the hot tub has been shut down. “Some of the common culprits that oftentimes can become contaminated and then spread contaminated water droplets in the air include things like hot tubs and water fountains,” Chan told WMUR.
