Vermont Schools Respond to Unfounded Statewide Shooting Threat
Local schools were caught up in a statewide anonymous shooting threat by text on Tuesday that appears to have no credibility. The threat was communicated via text at a suicide hotline and mentioned April 8 as the target date, noting a dozen schools in Vermont, including Burke Mountain Academy, Danville School, Hazen Union, Lyndon Institute and St. Johnsbury Academy. There was also a mention of shootings happening at middle schools with none identified by name. No classes were canceled as a result of the threat, but law enforcement communicated with school officials and were present on campuses Tuesday morning.
