Whitefield Accepts 16000 Donation from Trinity United Methodist Church for Infrared Drone and Ball Field Upgrades
WHITEFIELD — The Whitefield Select Board voted unanimously on May 12 to accept more than $16,000 in unanticipated funds from the Trinity United Methodist Church to purchase an infrared drone for emergency services and upgrade local ball fields. The vote came during a public hearing at the Town Office, where officials and church representatives discussed the community-minded donation. Trustee Austin Alvarez, speaking on behalf of the church, said the donation was part of a new push for greater community outreach. Fellow trustee Peter Corey had approached town officials earlier this year, asking what kinds of projects the church might support. The town proposed two: $9,631 for an infrared drone for the Police and Fire Departments, and $7,080 for improvements to the Legion and Highland Street ball fields. The church agreed to fund both.
