Weeks State Park is undergoing major renovations
LANCASTER—With one job complete and another to begin, Weeks State Park is undergoing major renovations, which state officials and local residents celebrated at the top of Mt. Prospect Thursday morning. The fire tower — which became a New Hampshire fire lookout station in 1941 with the addition of a fire watch cabin and was designated a national historic lookout in 1992 — is now restored with new masonry repointing. The work was completed in mid-October after two months of construction. Next is a $3.2 million renovation of the estate house or lodge, which will make it more accessible to all. Work on the lodge is expected to begin in 2025 and wrap up by early 2026. The contract was approved by the New Hampshire Governor and Council on Oct. 30.
