Vermont legislators returned to the Statehouse on Wednesday

Vermont legislators returned to the Statehouse on Wednesday, and with them came over a hundred proposals for new laws, including multiple measures aimed at firearm possession. House Bills 525, 559, 561 and 582 propose to either legislate gun ownership or dictate where they can’t be. They were introduced on Wednesday and assigned to a House committee. None of the bills are sponsored or co-sponsored by a Northeast Kingdom legislator. All sponsors or co-sponsors are Democrats except in the case of H. 525, which is sponsored by Rep. James Harrison, a Republican from the town of Chittenden.
