The Select Board announced a pause in tree-cutting activity this week
LANCASTER — The Select Board announced a pause in tree-cutting activity this week. The board in April approved a comprehensive plan to remove problem trees from four town parks. Five trees that had been encroaching on power lines were removed last month at no cost to the town: Two from Cross Park, two from Drew Park, and one from Centennial Park. However, the Select Board on Monday postponed plans to remove an additional eight trees from Centennial Park and Soldiers Park. The select Board members explained the delay, saying the town needed to define the scope of work and determine what trees could be removed by town crews, and which needed to be put out to bid.
