The Municipal Office Building will re-open today

LYNDON — The Municipal Office Building will re-open today, with some changes. Public access and all operations (Town Administrator, Zoning Administrator, Planning Administrator, Town Clerk, Town Listers, and cashiers) will be restricted to the Park Avenue street level until further notice. The basement and side entrance will remain closed until asbestos abatement and mold mitigation can be completed later this fall. The Park Avenue entrance (a.k.a. the front door) is not ADA accessible and the town will accommodate those with mobility impairments “in any way we can,” said Town Administrator Justin Smith. The Municipal Office Building had been closed for over two months due to air quality concerns tied to flood damage and asbestos flooring. On July 11, floodwaters rose high enough to enter the gymnasium and ground-floor lobby at the rear of the Municipal Office Building.
