State Police Confirm Arson in Two Vacant Building Fires in Wheelock
WHEELOCK — The Vermont State Police has concluded investigations into two structure fires that occurred in Wheelock last year, determining both were intentionally set. The first fire was reported July 19, 2024, at 31 Blakely Road, where firefighters arrived to find a historic, long-abandoned schoolhouse fully engulfed in flames. No injuries were reported. The second fire occurred Sept. 18, 2024, at 2558 Cold Hill Road. Firefighters again encountered a fully involved blaze at a vacant single-family home. Like the earlier case, the property had been unoccupied for years and was determined to have been deliberately set. Following a months-long investigation, authorities have identified those responsible for the arsons.
