Select Board Chair Katie Williams has stepped down

HAVERHILL — Select Board Chair Katie Williams has stepped down. In a letter dated Monday, May 22, Williams announced her resignation effective immediately. Explaining her decision, she cited Haverhill’s toxic political atmosphere caused by roiling Town of Haverhill-Woodsville Fire District tensions that have resulted in multiple lawsuits, shattered friendships, and hard feelings. Williams was elected in March 2022, emerging from a seven-person race to claim one of two open Select Board seats. A first-time candidate, she was the top vote-getter with 502 votes.
