LYNDON — Rose Reynolds’ cat was recently struck and killed on Red Village Road. It’s a symptom of a bigger problem, she said. Despite being limited to resident traffic after the catastrophic July 30 floods, Red Village Road has seen an increase in unauthorized non-resident vehicles since “road closed” signs were removed from the intersection at Severance Hill Road. Reynolds said the outsiders are to blame for a rise in reckless driving in the neighborhood. On Monday, Reynolds asked the Select Board to return the signs until the road is rebuilt to protect the health and safety of Red Village’s people, pets and property. The Select Board said they will contact the Highway Department to see what can be done. “God forbid a person gets injured,” Reynolds said.
