Police say a combination of wet, icy, slick conditions and a hand-held device contributed to a single-vehicle rollover
ST. JOHNSBURY — Police say a combination of wet, icy, slick conditions and a hand-held device contributed to a single-vehicle rollover Friday afternoon on Lackey Hill Rad in St. Johnsbury. The crash occurred near the intersection of Mt. Pisgah Rd. When police arrived on the scene, they made contact with the operator, Joshua Nelson, 31, of St. Johnsbury. Police say Nelson and a passenger were traveling south on Lackey Hill Road when he used a handheld portable device while operating his vehicle. While using the device, police say Nelson lost visual of the roadway, drifted toward the shoulder, and rolled his Ford F-250 pickup down a hill before it overturned and came to a position of uncontrolled rest. Both Nelson and the passenger were uninjured but the vehicle was totaled. Vermont State Police were assisted by the St. Johnsbury Fire Department, CALEX Ambulance, and MacKay Towing & Recovery.
