Plans to create a town forest have been shelved
WHITEFIELD — Plans to create a town forest have been shelved. The Select Board on Dec. 16 decided against placing the project on the 2025 Town Meeting warrant. The Conservation Commission had proposed establishing a town forest next to the industrial park, through the combination of two town-owned parcels into one 105-acre lot. It would have been situated south of the White Mountains Regional Airport runway. The Select Board’s decision comes after an October meeting where board members voiced concern that a town forest would inhibit expansion of the industrial park. The proposed town forest would have been managed by the Conservation Commission under the direction of the Select Board.
