NEWPORT — Northeast Kingdom residents might see a familiar truck on the road this summer, as Green Mountain Farm-to-School’s Lunchbox program returns for its 12th year. Every summer, The Lunchbox provides 3,000-4,000 free meals to kids 18 and under. Meals are also available to adults for an $8 purchase. The Abbey Group prepares and serves these meals, which the group says are packed with nutritious, local ingredients. The Lunchbox hits the ground running June 25 and will make its final stop of the summer on August 15. It will serve three locations, with programming from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Leach Public Library in Irasburg (Tuesdays), Barton Public Library (Wednesdays,) and Gardner Memorial Park in Newport (Thursdays). Green Mountain Farm-to-School is a nonprofit organization .For more information, visit gmfts.org or call 802-334-2044.
