North Country Pride Plans First Pride Fest in Littleton

LITTLETON — After five years of annual motorcade Pride Rides through Littleton, Franconia, and Bethlehem, North Country Pride, which promotes diversity, acceptance, LGBTQ+ support and events, is planning a Pride Fest in downtown Littleton. During Monday’s Select Board meeting, organizers requested that the group be allowed to close off Porter Street between noon and 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 21. With one member absent because of illness, though, the two Select Board members held off an official vote. They also heard opposition from Carrie Gendreau, a former Select Board member who is running again for the board and who, in 2023, made comments that made international news when she voiced religious-based views against diversity murals in downtown Littleton for which North Country Pride was a collaborator.
