Two people hospitalized after being shot in car

State Police are investigating the shooting of a Northeast Kingdom mother and her adult son. The pair were found wounded inside a vehicle on School Road in Holland Saturday at about 8:20 p.m.

Jason Willey, 38, of Derby Line, and his mother Valerie Lyon, 57, also of Derby Line, are being treated for their injuries at Dartmouth Hitchock Medical Center. As of Sunday afternoon Willey, who was shot in the torso, was in critical condition and Lyon was in fair condition with a gunshot wound to the arm.

Vermont State Police are investigating what they say may have been a targeted shooting. The vehicle was seized and transported to the Derby Barracks where the Vermont State Police Crime Scene Search Team is scheduled to process both the vehicle and the scene.

Initial investigation is that the victims were targeted and this does not appear to be a random act, said police. The Vermont State Police are still developing information as to the identity of the suspect(s) involved.

Anyone who may have witnessed activity around Valley and School roads around the time of the incident is asked to call the Derby Barracks at 802-334-8881.
