New Hampshire Dept. of Transportation has been scrambling to repair damage

Following last week’s flooding, the New Hampshire Dept. of Transportation has been scrambling to repair damage and reopen state roads in the North Country. Particularly hard hit were segments of Route 135, which remain closed in Lancaster, Dalton, and Littleton. The cost estimates for the three projects have not yet been calculated. On Thursday, Richard Arcand, spokesman for NHDOT, gave an update on the projects and their timeline for completion. He said two-way traffic will be maintained, and road users will alternate using the open lane as needed during daytime work hours. “These repair areas will be open to two lanes during non-work hours,” said Arcand. “Road users are encouraged to slow down and focus on driving and to check www.newengland511.org for updates.” The bridge in Dalton on Route 135, between Union Road and Landry Road, was washed out and remains closed.
