Nearly two dozen businesses benefited from a municipal flood relief program

LYNDON — Nearly two dozen businesses benefited from a municipal flood relief program. The town distributed $73,100 to 23 businesses to help with recovery costs after catastrophic floods on July 10. The Select Board funded the program with $100,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. The program, formally known as the Business Flood Recovery Assistance Program, was created in July at the suggestion of Selectman Dan Renaudette with unanimous board support. Renaudette said businesses damaged when the Passumpsic River reached historic flood levels faced significant clean-up and other expenses. Commercial areas hit hard by the flood included sections of Main and Broad Streets. Renaudette recommended that businesses be given broad discretion and not be required to report what the funds were used on.
