NEWPORT — Since late 2007, Habitat for Humanity has been involved in helping homeowners in the Northeast Kingdom repair or renovate their homes in order to fulfill their mission of everyone having a decent place to live. This work has included weatherization, porch and deck repair, access ramps, window replacement, interior wall and floor repair, widening doorways, general repair carpentry and painting. To strengthen their corps of volunteers for the Critical Home Repair program in Orleans County, NEK Habitat is holding an informational meeting on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to noon at United Church, 63 Third St., Newport. Anyone interested in joining the organization in any capacity may attend. Refreshments will be served, current COVID guidelines will be observed, and registration is required.
