Newport man suffered life-threatening injuries in a motorcycle crash

Vermont State Police say a Newport man suffered life-threatening injuries in a motorcycle crash on Sunday evening. Brian Mercer, 43, crashed on Beebe Road in Derby at approximately 4:45 p.m. Investigators believe Mercer drove off the road while traveling north. He was taken to North Country Hospital and later transported by DHART to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. His 1995 Honda was totaled in the crash.
