Nearly 400 Vermont Army National Guard soldiers will return from deployments over the next several weeks starting on Friday, the guard said Wednesday. Most of the soldiers were deployed to Kosovo. Soldiers from six units will return by early April. Their return marks the conclusion of the largest Vermont Army National Guard deployment since 2010, the guard said. “Those who join the Vermont National Guard do so with a tremendous sense of service and we know these deployments are not easy for them, their families, or their employers,” Gov. Phil Scott said in a statement. “I’m incredibly proud of their work and always happy to welcome them home after representing Vermont with honor and distinction.” They make up the final group of the 950 Vermont soldiers who left for deployments in 2021, the guard said.
