Local felon has announced his intent to plead guilty
After filing a notice of self-defense in January, a local felon has announced his intent to plead guilty to a 2023 shooting in Landaff that prosecutors said could have been sparked by a theft of $20. Shot in the leg with a Sig Sauer handgun was Christopher Way, 32. Arrested for the crime was Richard R. Knight, 57, who was indicted by a Grafton Superior Court grand jury on a special class felony count of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, a Class B felony count of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and a Class B felony count of being a felon in unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon, following a 1994 burglary conviction at the Grafton court that prohibited him from possessing guns. A plea and sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 16 at Grafton Superior Court.
