Littleton police responded swiftly on Wednesday to a threat of violence
Littleton police responded swiftly on Wednesday to a threat of violence at Lakeway Elementary School, which briefly put all schools into secure campus mode. It was the first incident that reached that level in at least several years. Ultimately, the threat was determined to be non-credible. In a note to parents, Littleton School District Superintendent Steve Nilhas said early that afternoon, the police department notified the district of a possible threat. “Out of an abundance of caution, and following our procedures, all schools were placed in secure campus while the police investigated,” he wrote. Although it was one school that was the subject of the threat, the procedure is to put all schools into secure campus mode, said Nilhas. He didn’t know the exact nature or details of the threat, which appears to have originated on social media.
