WHITEFIELD — Last year, a seven-member investment team acquired 12 King Sq. for one reason. “We wanted to revitalize our community,” said group member Peter Corey. Now, that goal is within reach. Affordable Housing, Education and Development (AHEAD) Inc. intends to buy the three-story mixed-used building and reconfigure the upper floors into four two-bedroom apartment units. The ground floor would remain a commercial space, and the exterior would be completely redone. The renovation cost is estimated at $2.3 million. Once the project is completed, AHEAD would be able to rent the apartments for up to $1,881 per month based on federal guidelines.
