In the not-too-distant future, you might communicate with the town by text

LYNDON — In the not-too-distant future, you might communicate with the town by text. “Text My Gov” is a municipal text messaging platform that would connect citizens to the Town of Lyndon 24/7. The Select Board on Monday learned how the service works. “Text My Gov” lets people opt-in to receive notifications, or send keywords to report issues or get information. The contract would include 10 gigabytes of data storage and allow for 50,000 incoming/outgoing texts per year. Unused texts would be rolled over into the following year. If desired, the service could be split between the town, school district, waste district, and electric department.
