Firefighters from 18 New Hampshire fire departments battled a barn fire

BARNSTEAD, N.H. — Firefighters from 18 New Hampshire fire departments battled a barn fire in Barnstead Saturday. The Barnstead Fire Department said it received a call around 4 p.m. about a woman having difficulty breathing at 557 Beauty Hill Road. However, officials said the phone disconnected. A few minutes later, authorities said they received multiple reports of a barn fire at that same location. Authorities said approximately 70 firefighters battled the blaze for several hours, which was under control by around 6:30 p.m. Barnstead Fire said a man was working on a boat that was parked in the barn when the boat caught fire. The man suffered burns to his hands and arms and was transported to the hospital for treatment, according to authorities. Officials said no one else was injured. Officials said the barn was a total loss, and the house that was not connected to the barn sustained no damage.
