Fire Chief Randy Flynn wont be stepping down after all

LANCASTER — Fire Chief Randy Flynn won’t be stepping down after all. The Select Board accepted Flynn’s resignation letter on Oct. 16, 2023, with an effective date of Sept. 30, 2024. However, the board on Monday rescinded their acceptance of the letter at Flynn’s request. Flynn explained he had a change of heart, and said he made the decision to step down in haste. Flynn is a 43-year member of Lancaster Fire and has served 24 years as chief. In his letter to the Select Board, he expressed his desire to remain on the department and assist the incoming Town Manager, whoever that might be. The Town Manager position is vacant and the application deadline was April 19.
