Fans of Fairbanks Museum eager to explore the much-anticipated Science Annex will have to wait a bit longer

Fans of Fairbanks Museum eager to explore the much-anticipated Science Annex will have to wait a bit longer as a construction delay has pushed the opening to late January or early February 2024. Fairbanks Museum Executive Director Adam Kane said the issue was with the delivery of the new addition’s elevator, coincidentally the same issue that caused a delay in the re-opening of the New Avenue Apartments in late 2021. Kane said they learned within the last few weeks that the elevator wouldn’t be delivered until around December, followed by about a month of installation time. Between the holidays and the museum’s typical closure for maintenance in January, the decision was made to target early February for the grand opening and celebration.
