Bill 254 Advances to Public Hearing
A former state representative from Sugar Hill is among those spearheading New Hampshire’s second medical-aid-in-dying bill, also called the End of Life Freedom Act. House Bill 254 goes to a public hearing at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the statehouse. It follows HB 1283, which in 2024 passed the New Hampshire House of Representatives before the state Senate placed it in interim study. HB 254, sponsored by former New Hampshire Supreme Court justice and current state Rep. Bob Lynn, R-Windham, establishes a procedure for a person with a terminal illness to receive self-administered medical-aid-in-dying medication. It also establishes criteria for the prescription of such medication as well as reporting requirements and penalties for non-compliance or misuse.
