Autopsy results show the man at the center of a standoff died by suicide

PLYMOUTH, N.H. — Autopsy results show the man at the center of a standoff in Plymouth last week died by suicide, according to officials with the New Hampshire attorney general’s office. Kevin Steinfeldt, 58, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of his death was suicide, according to officials. Officials said Steinfeldt was also hit by gunshots fired by police. Police were in a standoff with Steinfeldt for nearly 10 hours after responding to the Federal House Inn on Route 25 last Thursday. Steinfeldt was the owner of the inn. The identities of the troopers who fired their weapons have not been released.
