As police search for a suspect in the spray paint tagging

LITTLETON—As police search for a suspect in the spray paint tagging of the covered footbridge two weeks ago, they are investigating possible surveillance cameras as one preventive measure to reduce the likelihood of it happening again. On Wednesday, as the bridge approaches its 20th anniversary celebration on Aug. 2, Littleton Police Chief Paul Smith said his department currently has no credible information regarding possible suspects. Whether the charge will be a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief or a felony remains to be seen. “It depends on the total cost of damages,” said Smith. “When it’s all tallied up, and it exceeds $1,000, and that includes labor, then it could float into the felonious range, but I don’t think it’s going to.” In 2024, like last year, Littleton police have dealt with tagging elsewhere, prior to the June incident on the bridge.
