An off-duty officer took swift action this summer to save three lives
NORTH COUNTRY, N.H. — An off-duty officer took swift action this summer to save three lives. New Hampshire State Police Sgt. Sean McCarthy saved a mother and two children from drowning during a tubing outing on the Pemigewasset River on July 7. McCarthy was given the Lifesaving Award during the annual NHSP Award Ceremony in Concord on Dec. 12 for his bravery. He is stationed at Troop F in Carroll and is a member of the New Hampshire Troopers Association Board of Directors. This year, he was promoted to sergeant.
