A trailer burned to the ground on Old Duck Pond Road on Monday morning

SHEFFIELD — A trailer burned to the ground on Old Duck Pond Road on Monday morning. Firefighters learned of the fire emergency through a motorist on Interstate 91 in the area of milemarker 149. The 911 call was made at 3:23 a.m., but firefighters had no specific details as to the location of the fire. In addition to Sheffield-Wheelock firefighters, other departments were toned, but the response was momentarily called off when the fire wasn’t initially found. Firefighters ultimately discovered a trailer at 2299 Old Duck Pond Road engulfed in flames. It was quickly reported that the fire was so advanced that the structure collapsed. No occupant was around the property during the fire, and there was nothing to indicate anyone was living in the single-wide trailer. The structure had no electric service.
