A tax credit program is boosting a multi-million dollar expansion project

ST. JOHNSBURY—A tax credit program is boosting a multi-million dollar expansion project at the local Weidmann Electrical Technology manufacturing plant. Mascoma Community Development announced $13 million in New Markets Tax Credit allocation to support the $44 million project at the plant along Memorial Drive. The deal was finalized last week, said Carol Martin vice president of finance at Weidmann. She said Mascoma is one of five community development entities supporting the project through New Markets Tax Credit allocations. An increasing need for electrification is driving the growth at Weidmann, a global company that has owned the St. Johnsbury plant since 1971.
