A memorial scholarship fund is being created to honor John Harrigan

A memorial scholarship fund is being created to honor John Harrigan, who impacted generations of residents and made his mark as a North Country newspaper publisher, journalist, and avid outdoorsman. Harrigan, of Colebrook, who in 2020 was named to the New England Newspaper Hall of Fame by the New England Newspaper and Press Association, died on Dec. 26 at the age of 75. The New Hampshire Wildlife Coalition, which Harrigan co-founded with Chris Schadler, has partnered with the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to create a scholarship fund in Harrigan’s name. The John Harrigan Memorial Scholarship Fund will award scholarships to students seeking a higher education degree in journalism or science with an emphasis on conservation.
