A group of local church parishioners and community members are working
LITTLETON — A group of local church parishioners and community members are working to open a first-of-its-kind in the Littleton area — a temporary emergency warming shelter for the unhoused during the coldest months of the year. The group behind Littleton Winter Shelter, named after the nonprofit spearheading it, are completing the last steps with the hope to have it ready for occupancy in early January, at 18 Pleasant St., in a building owned by the adjacent First United Methodist Church. Discussions began in earnest in the spring, following the homeless encampment on town-owned land behind Littleton Water and Light that had to move.
