The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on whether to change the name of the proposed White Village District
WATERFORD — The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on whether to change the name of the proposed White Village District to the Lower Waterford Village District. The Waterford Historical Society has proposed the name change on the grounds “Lower Waterford” is more accurate. The Select Board last month declined to take action and referred the matter to the Planning Commission, who unanimously agreed on Wednesday to hold a public hearing on the matter. The tentative date is Nov. 15. This year the Planning Commission drafted plans for a zoning district, the White Village District, that would balance conservation and development in the picturesque neighborhood. The name “White Village” dates back nearly 100 years.
